Opening Thought
Forgiveness is one of the hardest yet most powerful things we can do. It’s not about excusing someone’s actions but about freeing our hearts from bitterness. Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:14, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Forgiveness isn’t optional—it’s a command that brings healing and peace.
Reflection
Holding onto unforgiveness only harms us. It creates a barrier between us and God, weighs down our hearts, and robs us of peace. Jesus set the ultimate example when He forgave those who crucified Him, saying, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). If Christ forgave those who wronged Him, how much more should we extend grace to others?
Ask yourself: Is there someone I need to forgive? Am I holding onto resentment that is keeping me from experiencing God’s peace?
Practical Steps to Walk in Forgiveness
Personal Challenge
Think of someone you’ve struggled to forgive. This week, pray for them daily and ask God to help you release any lingering bitterness. If possible, take a step toward reconciliation.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for the forgiveness You have given me through Christ. Help me to extend that same grace to others, even when it’s hard. Heal my heart, remove bitterness, and give me the strength to forgive as You have forgiven me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
